2016-06-16

Today is the saddest day of this close community.

We have lost a dear, dear friend in the the most tragic and outrageous circumstances.

We pay tribute to our amazing, wonderful and spirited member of this community. A beacon of hope who believed in love, friendship and values and that we all so much need at this time.

Our community will continue to be inspired by her relentless energy and the commitment to all that is good.

Our thoughts go to her husband Brendan and her two wonderful children.

Following the huge response and events of last week, we will not be holding any further events at this time (e.g. flotilla).

The floating memorial has been created by the cooperative community at Hermitage Moorings of which Jo was part, and her family live. We have taken one of the community boats (a small tender) and covered it with a thousand roses. Community members have also made roses which surround it, and we have placed our individual memories and tributes inside the boat. We have named the boat “Yorkshire Rose”. Please see below for timings and locations.

The floating memorial will leave Hermitage Moorings at 2pm Weds and is estimated to take 40 minutes to travel upstream. Permission has been granted by the Sergeant at Arms and the boat anchored on the river outside the Houses of Parliament. A procession will then lead from Westminster Pier to Trafalgar Square around 3pm.
