The Kentish Sailing Association's Swale Match, now in it's 41st year, has become a tradition for the boats at hermitage. Its the Wapping Shindig this weekend, why not come by Hermitage beforehand to visit our historic boats? We're open both Saturday and Sunday 10-4. With a cafe serving tea, coffee and cakes. For the kids among us, there's even an activity sheet.
During a cruise up the Thames, we stopped just opposite Battersea park for some lunch, when someone said they saw dolphins. We all carefully watched the spot, and there they were again. Two small dorsal fins appeared briefly side by side, then disappeared again. They were swimming upstream against the tide but were quickly losing [...]
A number of us attended a sea survival course run by City Sailing. This gave us a first experience of what its like to have your life jacket inflated, as well as the claustrophobic atmosphere within a life raft. The course was a good laugh despite its serious subject.
Thank you to everyone who came to visit us for our open weekend. The sun was out, and it was nice to see so many new, and returning faces. We're especially grateful of Ray, from The History of Wapping Trust who took 16 of us for a walking tour. I certainly learnt a lot - [...]
